Clesen PROturf Solutions, the Rain Bird Golf Distributor in Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is hiring a motivated individual for a Golf Irrigation Field Sales Representative position based in Minneapolis/St. Paul with a territory that includes much of Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin.  We are looking for an articulate and organized candidate with strong social aptitude that will develop long lasting relationships with his/her clientele.  This candidate must have experience with automated golf irrigation systems as a golf course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or Irrigation Technician.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Act as a solution based sale representative that outlines Rain Bird’s complete technological capabilities to decision makers.

  • Provide advice, guidance and technical knowledge to customers in an effort to assist them with maintaining their irrigation system or planning an irrigation upgrade/installation.

  • Ability to present and explain finance options and after-the-sale technical support packages.  

  • Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers and assist them with ordering products and parts

  • Displays or demonstrates Rain Bird irrigation products using samples, catalogs, technical sheets, demo kits or other sales tools to emphasize features and benefits on each sales meeting and can present these ideas to all persons who have an influence on the purchase of products

  • Ability to analyze irrigation system designs to develop quotes and complete project bids

  • Quote selling price, present price agreements and contracts as well as credit terms for potential projects, orders and follow ups

  • Work with irrigation consultants, architects and contractors to develop plans of action for irrigation projects

  • Ensure excellent service and follow-up on all customer accounts

  • Develop specific sales and pricing objectives for each account

  • Prepare sales estimates and forecasts

  • Maintain a weekly call plan to ensure that all customers have an appropriate frequency of sales contact and enter relevant information on Customer Relationship Management Software

  • Develop and maintain an active prospect list and consistently prospects for new business and irrigation projects

  • Stay informed on new products, pricing, and other general information as well as participate in ongoing training

  • Check on competitive sales and pricing activity

  • Maintain daily contact with internal departments/personnel, customers, vendor reps, and other outside sources as required

  • Communicate account activity to maintain a high level of follow through with credit, collections, and adjustments

  • Attend and participate in sales meetings and training

  • Maintain daily communication with Director of Sales, reviews sales targets and discusses initiatives/progress in assigned territory

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of standards and goals needed to achieve/maintain territory objectives

WORK EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum one year of job related experience from any of the following positions:  Field Sales Representative, Customer Service Sales, Sports Turf Manager, Golf Course Superintendent

  • or Minimum three years as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent or Irrigation Technician

  • Must possess a valid drivers license

  • Does not need experience working specifically with a Rain Bird Irrigation System but must have experience working with an automated irrigation system

EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS

  • A two year Associates Degree or four year Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution.

DESIRED SKILL AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have the ability to operate a PC in order to utilize order entry software, customer relationship management software, e-mail software and Microsoft office products, specifically MS Word, Excel

  • Ability to learn broad and specific knowledge of the our products and services

  • Must possess excellent customer service skills

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to conduct group presentations
