Women Owned Business Enterprise

Does your company do business with a government entity?

Arthur Clesen Inc. is certified as a Women's Business Enterprise by the City of Chicago  --- What does this mean for you, our customer?

Taking advantage of Small Business Set Asides:

Small business set-asides are a powerful tool for helping small businesses compete for and win government contracts. For example, every year, the federal government purchases approximately $400 billion in goods and services from the private sector.  When market research concludes that small businesses are available and able to perform the work or provide the products being procured by the government, those opportunities are “set-aside” exclusively for small business concerns.

The Federal government has specified annual prime contracting goals for designated small businesses. The current, government-wide procurement goal stipulates that at least 23% of all federal government contracting dollars should be awarded to small businesses, of which 5% must be from a Women Owned Small Business.

If your company is not certified as a Women Business Enterpriseany purchases that your company makes with Arthur Clesen Inc. for a government contract could fulfill the WBE requirement.   To be awarded a WBE project, the percentage of goods and services these government projects require vary, but generally its approximately 5% of the total cost of the project.

For example: if your company was competing for a DOT grass seeding contract that totaled $100,000.00 and the DOTs work requirement from a WBE was 5%, you would fulfill this projects WBE requirement if you purchased $5,000.00 of grass seed from Arthur Clesen Inc. and thus, have a greater chance at being awarded the contract.

Please speak with the government contracting officer for your specific project to determine what the requirements are for WBE qualification or contact us for further assistance.
